About ICRIS

The ICRIS database system aims to provide a comprehensive public repository for genotype, phenotype and linkage map data from crop species relevant in the semi-arid tropics.

This system represents a complete rewrite of the earlier version, with the database schema redrawn. The underlying database is postgreSQL. The initial release records details of current genotype and phenotype datasets generated at ICRISAT for ICRISAT mandate crops along with details of molecular markers and related metadata voluntarily contributed by ICRISAT researchers. We hope to be able to add map data over the coming few months. Genotype and phenotype data are stored in two separate databases. The species list on the right is a good starting point to browse or query the database contents. The datasets available for each crop species are displayed with dimension and type descriptions, can be sorted and queried and allele data matrices retrieved may also be called using the Allele binning programme. Access to datasets requires user login.

Data may be currently exported to the following formats: 2x2 matrix, iMAS, Darwin & Structure software formats. Mapping data may be exported to JoinMap, iMAS and MapMaker software formats. Data submission is through templates; upload templates are available for genotype data (separate templates for diversity and mapping populations, type of markers - RFLP and SSR data), phenotype data for diversity and mapping populations and marker data templates. The templates are in the form of excel sheets with built-in validation functions.
